There is a main annual payment for UK income, while money generated internationally and from additional rights is paid at intervals throughout the year.
Distribution closure payment for 2004-05
PPL will close its 2004 and 2005 distribution periods and no longer pay royalties for when recordings were played during these years. This move is in line with the applicable six-year statutory limitation period for performers to claim royalties from PPL. Please note that the dates of 2004 and 2005 refer to the time a recording was played in only and not the date of production or release. Once claims have been processed any revenue from 2004 and 2005 that PPL is not able to distribute will be allocated to PPL's recording rights holder and performer members. This revenue will be allocated on a pro-rata basis in proportion with each member's PPL allocations during 2004 and 2005.
International payment
Payment for when a recording is played in a different country that has a reciprocal deal with PPL. Members only receive these additional royalties if they have signed a mandate with PPL.
Main annual payment for 2012
Payment for when a recording is included on radio and TV broadcasts and when it is played in public in the UK.
Main annual VPL payment for 2012
Payment for when a music video recording is included on TV broadcasts and when it is played in public in the UK. Only VPL members receive these payments. Please note that performers on music videos are not paid by VPL.
UK adjustment for PPL and VPL
Adjustment to payments made between 2006-11 for PPL and 2010-11 for VPL. Payments reflect new information about recordings, including performer claims and changes to rights holder. As adjustments often require movement of money from one party to another, some balances will be positive while others may be negative. Please see the Member FAQs for more information.
This table was last updated 10 January 2013.
Please note that we only pay UK members once the balance of their account is above £5.00 and only via BACS (or only if the account is above £50.00 via SWIFT/IBAN for members not based in the UK). If we do not have your correct bank and contact details, we will be forced to hold any payment.
Members can view statements, add new repertoire, search the PPL Repertoire Database and make claims via their online myPPL account.
