UK revenue payments

PPL distributes to record companies and performers the revenues that it collects for the use of sound recordings in the UK.


AS A performer YOU will only receive monies if : 

 

 A record company will only receive monies if it :


• Is a member of PPL.  Click here for more information about how to become a member.
• Alternatively, where PPL has a repertoire agreement with another record company society in another territory, a record company can be a member of that society.  Click here for more information on societies who have repertoire agreements with PPL
• Registers its sound recordings on the PPL Repertoire Database; and
• Controls sound recordings that are protected by UK copyright and are exploited by PPL’s licensees in the UK

 

PPL only controls and licenses sound recordings in its repertoire. A sound recording will be in PPL’s repertoire if :

• The sound recording qualifies for copyright protection, and
• The record company that controls the rights in that sound recording is a member of PPL (for more about how to become a member click here), or is a member of a record company society in another territory, with whom PPL has a repertoire agreement with.
