Earlier this year we announced that PRS Foundation’s flagship funding scheme, the Momentum Music Fund, has been renamed the PPL Momentum Music Fund, reflecting a closer partnership with the charity in supporting new music. In recent years, the Fund has helped nurture the careers of some of the brightest talents in the UK.

The Fund offers grants of £5k-£15k for UK based artists/bands to help them break through to the next level in their careers. Successful applications have helped nurture some of the brightest talents in the UK such as Years and Years, Kate Tempest, Ms Banks, Sam Fender, Anna Calvi, Novelist and Moses Boyd to name but a few. You can see the latest artists who have received funding here.

The PPL Momentum Music Fund has four deadlines a year. Usually application decisions will be communicated back to all applicants within eight weeks of the submission deadline. All funding decisions are made by an expert group of panelists. Artists/bands applying for the PPL Momentum Music Fund must be at a crucial tipping point in their careers, showing current progression and growth as an artist with the potential to significantly develop their careers over the next two years.

There are many ways in which the Fund can be used. Applications can be made for costs associated with recording an album, EP or single, including studio hire and session musician fees; put towards touring costs, such as travel, accommodation or production fees; or used for the purposes of marketing or promotional activity.  Funding priority is given to where it will help the artists/bands develop professionally and creatively.

The remaining 2020 deadlines are:

25 May 2020
17 August 2020
2 November 2020

To the best of our knowledge, these deadlines are not affected by the ongoing coronavirus situation.

All applications must be submitted by 6pm on the day of the deadline.
