PPL becomes founding donor of EarthPercent, supporting environmental change from within the music industry

Category:

PPL is now a founding donor of EarthPercent, an organisation working with artists and music-related businesses to raise funds to power its Grant Giving programme, ensuring that impactful organisations receive the necessary resources to drive positive environmental change.

Founded by Brian Eno, EarthPercent distributes funding to organisations delivering measurable impact for climate and nature. Every grant is independently vetted by EarthPercent’s Expert Advisory Panel – an international, multidisciplinary and multi-generational group of scientists, academic researchers, economists, climate communicators, youth activists, community organisers and policy makers. The panel oversees the distribution of the grants across five key areas:

  1. Greening the Music Industry
  2. Just Energy Transition
  3. Climate Justice
  4. Legal & Policy Change
  5. Protecting Nature

As part of PPL’s engagement with EarthPercent, representatives from the organisation will deliver education and engagement sessions for PPL employees over a three-year period, helping to build understanding of the role the music industry can play in supporting positive environmental change.

The first of these sessions was held during the week of Earth Day 2026, in which Cathy Runciman, Co-executive Director at EarthPercent, joined Camilla Waite, General Counsel at PPL, to talk about what the partnership means for PPL and the impact that EarthPercent’s initiatives are having on climate causes.

Cathy Runciman, Co-Executive Director at EarthPercent, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome PPL as our newest Founding Donor. They join a collective of pioneering artists and industry organisations who recognise both the urgency of the climate and nature crisis, and the powerful role music can play in addressing it.

“By committing multi-year support, PPL is helping EarthPercent cement the foundations for a future where the power of music is channelled towards high-impact, science-led climate solutions.

“PPL’s leadership shows what meaningful action can look like, and we hope it encourages others across the industry to step forward. We’re hugely grateful to PPL for supporting EarthPercent in this way.”

Camilla Waite, General Counsel at PPL, adds: “At PPL, we want to play our part in ensuring that, as an industry, we are doing everything we can to safeguard our planet.

“We’re proud to partner with EarthPercent as a founding donor, supporting its work as a catalyst for change and helping harness the power of music to drive meaningful action for the climate and nature.”

PPL’s partnership with EarthPercent builds on PPL’s wider commitment to sustainability, equity and responsible business practices, as set out in its Equity, Sustainability & Community Report 2026.
