Giving back to music
Through PPL Giving, we support a wide range of initiatives that drive positive change across the industry.
From funding education and welfare programmes to offering grants for emerging talent, we aim to contribute to a thriving, inclusive and sustainable future for music.
PPL Giving
As a company that champions music rights for performers and recording rightsholders, we understand the importance of nurturing talent and empowering those who shape the sound of the UK’s music industry.
PPL Giving is helping to build a sustainable music industry for future generations. We proudly support initiatives that champion talent, create career opportunities and promote equality across all musical genres and regions in the UK.
Since the early 2000s, PPL has contributed over £7.2 million to dozens of organisations across the UK, helping to shape a more equitable and diverse music industry. PPL Giving builds on and includes our existing support for a wide range of music organisations, from talent development to artist welfare.
Our funding priorities
We fund projects that meet one or more of the following three categories:
1
Developing musical talent
We support educational initiatives that nurture musical talent, from formal educational settings to vocational training. This includes opportunities for new talent to learn performance, recording and industry skills.
2
Creating performance and career opportunities
We aim to help performers advance their careers by funding recording, live performances and other career-building opportunities.
3
Providing artist welfare
A thriving music industry depends on the wellbeing of its artists. We support projects that offer direct assistance to performers, helping them maintain well-being throughout their careers.
How we make funding decisions
PPL Giving provides funding to selected initiatives each year. Organisations submit their projects for consideration, and funding is awarded following a thorough review of all applications.
We make funding decisions based on our core principles:
- Promoting equity of opportunity within the music sector.
- Supporting a wide range of musical genres and geographic areas across the UK.
- Backing initiatives that positively enhance PPL’s profile.
