Antony Szmierek, Ellur and Astles live showcase

Event date: 19/11/2025
Venue: Band on the Wall, Manchester
PPL, PRS Foundation and the Un-Convention present a very special evening of music featuring three artists that have received PRS Foundation’s vital funding support, with a nod to celebrating 25 years of PRS Foundation.

Headlining the bill is Manchester-based poet, writer and producer Antony Szmierek, who has been cutting his teeth on the city’s spoken word scene with his seamless flow, skewering everything from the hardships of contemporary British life to the unexpected beauty in the everyday.

Antony’s 2023 single ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Fallacy’ marked the start of his meteoric ascent. He was supported by the International Showcase Fund to wow the crowds at SXSW in Austin in 2025.

Support comes from Halifax alt-pop artist Ellur and Liverpool-based singer-songwriter Astles. Ellur’s debut US show at SXSW and her first European show at Reeperbahn 2025 were supported by the International Showcase Fund, and her recent full-length recording was made possible by the PPL Momentum Music Fund. Astles has been supported by the targeted PPL Momentum Accelerator for the Liverpool City Region.
