ALT BLK ERA are a British rock band from Nottingham, formed in 2020. It consists of sisters Nyrobi and Chaya Becket-Messam.

They released their EP Freak Show in 2023 and their debut album, Rave Immortal, in 2025, both via Earache Records.

For ALT BLK ERA, PRS Foundation’s support has been transformative. As the band themselves attest, the funding enabled them to translate their artistic vision from “thoughts and dreams to a place where we are now putting them into practice.”

The band’s journey has included support from BBC Introducing and PRS Foundation, enabling them to perform at key industry events and reach wider audiences. Recognising the significance of empowering female creators, Women Make Music has supported Nyrobi and Chaya Becket-Messam, enabling them to dedicate valuable time to songwriting, recording, and further developing their unique artistic voice.

“With PRS Foundation support we have been able to move our artistic vision from thoughts and dreams to a place where we are now putting them into practice.”

Further empowering Black music creators, POWER UP has provided ALT BLK ERA with resources to develop their business skills, network with industry professionals, and address challenges specific to Black artists.

Support from the PPL Momentum Music Fund boosted the band’s resources, enabling the production, promotion, and touring of their debut album, ‘Rave Immortal’, helping them reach a wider audience and build momentum in their career. ALT BLK ERA’s success is a testament to PRS Foundation’s commitment to empowering emerging artists and fostering diverse voices in the music industry.
