David Lee has been re-elected and Paul Spong has been elected as Performer Board Directors at PPL’s 2025 Annual Performer Meeting (APM).

They will sit alongside our four other Performer Directors: Rachel Bolt, Jackie Davidson MBE, Peter Lale and Horace Trubridge. A full list of PPL Board Directors can be found here.

David Lee has worked as both a featured and non-featured artist throughout a long and varied career. Since 1969, he has held principal and co-principal horn positions across leading UK orchestras, including the BBC Concert Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Opera House. Alongside his orchestral work, he spent 18 years as Solo Horn with the Michael Nyman Band, performed widely as a soloist and chamber musician, and built an extensive portfolio of film and television recording work.

Paul Spong has been a professional trumpet player for more than 40 years, performing with artists such as Wham!, The Who and Elton John. His work covers studio sessions, touring, television and film. For the past two decades, he has also been a musical contractor with Music Creation Ltd., and he spent over ten years on the Musicians’ Union Recording and Broadcasting Committee.

This means Roxanne de Bastion steps down.

This year’s APM was held at Band on the Wall in Manchester. It’s the third time the APM has been held outside of London, following Bristol in 2024 and Belfast in 2023. Read the full summary of this year’s APM here.
