PPL received The Company Award: Diversity in the Workplace at Music Week’s annual Women in Music Awards last week. Taking place at The Brewery, London, on Friday 9 November, the company was recognised for being a leader in this field, going the extra mile to champion diversity and inclusion both internally within PPL and externally across the music industry.

Nominated by its peers, PPL was awarded the accolade as a result of the initiatives the company has driven forward in a number of areas, including recruitment, training, apprenticeships, third party collaborations and employee engagement. It also reflects PPL’s work across the wider industry supporting UK Music’s efforts and the Diversity Taskforce, which was set up to help music companies diversify and adopt fair and inclusive employment practices. PPL has been a driving force in setting up the Taskforce and in sharing examples of best practice within that forum.

Commenting on receiving the Award, PPL Chief Executive Officer, Peter Leathem, said: “To receive the award for Diversity in the Workplace is a very positive achievement for PPL and a real validation of the efforts we have undertaken to be as inclusive as possible. It has been a journey and it is not over yet. We remain committed to investing in all our people, regardless of gender, race or ethnicity or any other protected characteristic because we believe, at PPL, that diversity is key to our success.”

PPL’s Director of People and Organisational Development, Kate Reilly, added: “At PPL we are keen to ensure that we continue to hire, develop and promote the best people and that our talent pool is as wide as possible. I am proud that the practical steps we take to do this have been recognised by our peers in the industry. I would like to thank the great teams of people at PPL, who have embraced diversity and been pivotal in influencing and enacting change within the company and beyond.”

The announcement follows the publication of PPL’s gender pay gap results earlier this year which reported a 6.6% mean pay gap in favour of men and a median pay gap of 4.3% gender pay gap in favour of women.
