PPL’s Laurence Oxenbury on unlocking neighbouring rights growth in emerging markets

Laurence Oxenbury, PPL’s Director of International, has written an op-ed for Music Business Worldwide exploring how the global neighbouring rights market could grow by more than $1 billion over the next five years according to Goldman Sachs – and the role that collective management organisations (CMOs) like PPL must play in making that a reality.

In the piece, Laurence highlights the growing importance of emerging markets in South America, Southeast Asia and beyond – and the need for international collaboration, infrastructure development, and trust to support performers and recording rightsholders around the world.

“This is vital not just for the neighbouring rights sector,” Laurence writes, “but for the entire global music industry.”
