PPL carries out identity and business checks via a third-party, Persona Identities (‘Persona’), to confirm that applicants are who they say they are and, where relevant, that their business exists and is operating. This helps protect members, ensure payments are made to the correct parties, and to help support legal and regulatory obligations.
Our online identity verification service uses technology to compare the information and photo on your government-issued ID document with a live photo (selfie) that you take during the verification process. It will check that your identity document is genuine and valid.
If the details match, and the document is identified as authentic and has not expired, your identity should be successfully verified.
Persona will ask you to:
- Take a photograph of your valid, government-issued photographic proof of identity (e.g. passport, driving licence, or national identity card).
- Capture a live selfie.
You may also be required to upload proof of your current address dated within three months (e.g. utility bill, bank statement, government letter). Financial information can be obscured.
You might find it easier to switch to a mobile device to complete the identity check. You will be invited to do so at the relevant part of the process. If you need to, you will be able to save and return to your application within 90 days of starting.
Once you have started the identity verification checks, this must be completed within 48 hours. After this period, you will need to contact our Member Services team to restart identity verification.
Our Member Services team aim to review registration applications within 10 working days. We will send you a welcome email once your membership has been approved or contact you if we need any further information to process your registration.
