You require a PPL Prison Radio Licence if you operate a prison radio station in the UK and include recorded music in your broadcast.
A prison radio station is one that broadcasts within a prison via hardwire.
How much does a Prison Radio Licence cost?
As well as being able to broadcast recorded music, the annual fees allow the station to copy up to 5,000 music tracks onto a database for use in the broadcast. The licence fee is £168 (plus VAT) and is due at the beginning of each calendar year.
