PPCA requires PPCA licensors to have what it refers to as a “direct licensing policy” relating to the possibility of obtaining a licence directly from a PPCA licensor as an alternative to obtaining a licence from PPCA. This is something that the Australian competition authorities have obliged PPCA to require.
By virtue of its reciprocal deal with PPCA, PPL is required to have such a policy. PPL’s Australian direct licensing policy is therefore set out below:
PPL does not currently offer direct licences for the public performance or transmission of sound recordings or music videos in Australia.
