The BRITs-winning group FLO have agreed a deal with PPL for the collection of their international neighbouring rights royalties.
The addition to PPL’s prestigious roster puts FLO alongside renowned artists such as Lewis Capaldi, Ice Spice and Central Cee.
FLO formed in London in 2019 and its members include Jorja Douglas, Renée Downer and Stella Quaresma. They all attended East London Arts & Music (ELAM), a full-time industry academy providing 16 to 19-year-olds from under-represented communities with a specialist education in music.
The video promo for the band’s debut single ‘Cardboard Box’ received over 900,000 views in the first few days and was followed by the release of ‘The Lead’ (EP). FLO were the first all-female group to win the BBC Sound of 2023 and the BRITs Rising Star award in the same year.
They were nominated for three Soul Train Awards in the US and performed at Coachella. The trio have released tracks with Stormzy and Missy Elliott, and their debut album is expected on Island Records this year.
Based in London, PPL licenses the use of recorded music in the UK and collects neighbouring rights royalties around the world on behalf of performers and recording rightsholders. FLO’s decision to partner with PPL brings the advantages of extensive expertise in neighbouring rights, a global reach and a dedicated team of over 200 individuals with deep knowledge and a passion for music.
PPL’s cutting-edge technology systems, meticulous approach to metadata management and an expanding network of 110 agreements with CMOs, all contribute towards ensuring that the band receives royalties when their music is played on radio, TV or public places globally.
