International royalties

“We are excited for the partnership with PPL. With a level of service and reach around the world, we could not wish for a better partner to work with for our neighbouring rights collection.”
Peter Mensch, Q Prime (The Last Dinner Party)
How do international royalties work?
The global sound-recording performance rights industry is worth around $3billion a year and has tripled in size in the last twenty years. The sheer size of the international music scene and the differing rules and procedures in each country can make it complicated to navigate.
As a global leader in collecting neighbouring rights royalties (also sometimes called performance rights) on behalf of performers and rightsholders, we work for our members to make it is as simple as possible to get the money they are owed.
We want to be the first choice for neighbouring rights royalty collections. Since we started collecting neighbouring rights income from around the world almost 20 years ago, PPL has played an influential role in developing the market to the size it boasts today; we have collected over £937 million on behalf of our members, paying hundreds of thousands of performers and rightsholders for the use of their music around the world.
We do this through our network of agreements with other collective management organisations (CMOs) similar to ourselves around the world. We have over 110 agreements in place, with new deals being brokered all the time. Through these agreements we cover almost all (95%) of the available markets which neighbouring rights can be collected from.
No other organisation has the same scale and global reach as us, helping you to maximise your royalties as much as possible.
