First emerging artists join new creative development programme, Inside Track

Category:

They will have a year-long unique experience working alongside Ivor Novello Award winning producer, songwriter and drummer Cassell The Beatmaker. Inside Track is delivered by Cassell’s community interest company In The Making, in partnership with PPL, The Ivors Academy and The Ivors Academy Trust. In the Making advances the progression of aspiring musicians and recording artists from economically, socially and/or rurally disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK. Using Cassell and In The Making’s expertise the group will receive direct experience of the music industry across production, performance, songwriting, image and brand development, business planning and industry networking.

Cassell The Beatmaker said, “I’m delighted to welcome Alfie, Cara, LOZ and Aaliyah to Inside Track and I can’t wait to start working with them. There’s a lot of demand for the kind of business and creative support that we’re providing to music creators who don’t yet have financial backing or who are finding it hard to start in the industry. With our partners PPL and The Ivors Academy I hope we can open doors for emerging songwriters and composers that deserve our backing.”

ABOUT THE GROUP

Alfie Neale

Alfie is a singer, songwriter and producer from Dorset and based in Brighton. His sound is mix of styles using elements of soul, disco, jazz and hip-hop. His influences range from Amy Winehouse and Anderson .Paak to the Doobie Brothers and George Benson.

Cara Crosby-Irons

Cara is a singer-songwriter from North London who grew up in a musical family. Influenced by the likes of SZA, Amy Winehouse, Lana Del Rey and Mariah the Scientist, Cara has always intended for honesty to be at the heart of her work. Cara has worked with artists such as Cherise and SG Lewis.

LOZ

LOZ’s sound is influenced by a range of artists from Gorillaz, Prince and Chance the Rapper. The subjects include the chaos and struggle people go through being stuck in UK’s class-based system, reflection on their childhood, drug abuse and how music can be a tool for escapism and refuge.

Aaliyah Jasz

Aaliyah Jasz’s musical journey began in the church where she was heavily influenced by gospel. Her style draws on R&B, soul and folk music, and has been likened to TianaMajor9, Jorja Smith and HER. Her debut release, ‘Inhale Exhale’, recorded in her bedroom, showcases a blend of harmonies and piano parts that serve as a reminder to stop and be present for just a moment.
